The month of January 2010 was marked by the Feast of St. Thomas on January 28, 2010. I would like to thank STA school community and friends for their active participation in the novena and fiesta.
STA Science Fair Certificates and Awards were presented to students on January 8, 2010. We take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the judges and affirm our exemplary collaboration with the University of Guam.
After the semester exams, students, faculty and staff enjoyed a time of fun at Leo Palace Bowling Alley on January 14, 2010.
On January 19, 2010, STA faculty attended an in-house professional development in the MRC about Cyber Learning, which was hosted by Mr. Norman Babia. STA is exploring the possibility of registering students who may need a few online courses, as an alternative to earn credits. The second presentation was focused on the Sacraments taught by Fr. Val Rodriguez.
On January 28, 2010, STA school community celebrated the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas with friends and family members. To prepare for the occasion, a novena was organized nine days prior to the event. STA Alma Matter song, written and composed by Mr. Norman Babia, was introduced to our guests by the school choir. Among the attendees was the Most Reverend, Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap. D.D., Metropolitan Archbishop of Agana.
STA second quarter Honor Awards were presented to approximately sixty percent of the student body on January 28, 2010.
As part of STA “Career Interest” program, Mr. Sanchez, US Navy Seal, was invited on January 29, 2010, to discuss his profession to students. This presentation drew a lot of interest and helped students with a better appreciation of the commitment of different branches of the military in providing protection to all Americans.
During the month of January, the STA recruitment team, composed of the Principal, the Director of Admissions and selected students, visited San Vicente Catholic School in Barrigada, St. Francis Catholic School in Yona, Untalan Middle School in Barrigada , F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School in Yigo, and Santa Barbara Catholic School in Dededo. About fifty Invitation letters have been sent to parents of prospective students to attend one of our open house series (February 1, 2010; April 7, 2010). To date, two applications have resulted from the Middle School visits.
STA School Community extends its appreciation to Mr. Pat Civille and Ms. Joyce Tang for their gracious donation to strengthen our school programs.
STA Advisory Board is joined by Dr. Jeffrey Johnson and Mr. Joel Tribaudini, appointed by his Excellency Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron, in replacement of Dr. Maika Vuki and Mr. Tony Sholing.
STA Mock Trial Team is literally raising the bar and brings the competition to a different level! Congratulations to all members with advisors and coaches.
Members of STA student body and staff attended the “Chain for Life” event on January 24, 2010, organized by the archdiocese of Agana in protest of abortion on the Island of Guam and elsewhere.
STA School Choir, Concentus, is shining at the Cathedral-Basilica every Sunday at 11:30am. Please come and support our students.
